OAW – One A Week
I’m attempting a bit of an exercise to create at least one video each week and publish it on social media for the world to see. The idea is to practice and exercise my skills and, maybe, learn a bit more of my craft. I’ll be the first to admit that I do not know everything about filmmaking. I don’t know a lot of things, but that only means I have the privilege of continuing to learn something new!
My first OAW, OAW 001 – The Old Ballgame, involved some footage I took at my grandson’s ballgame. I was playing with the 96fps option on my GH4. The idea was to see what footage I could capture in “slo-mo” and then edit it into something watchable. I did spend most of my time watching the game, cheering on The “Red Sox” and holding my youngest grandson. So, the footage I used was only what I captured.
When editing, I found a clip of Harry Carey singing “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” on Archive.org. It was perfect. A simple edit to simple footage. The only true issue is that I manipulated the truth. I made it seem as if the Red Sox were winning. They didn’t. They were always behind. Ah… but that’s the way things go for art, eh?
In any case, enjoy my first OAW and I pray that you do something similar. Keep you hand in. Keep Practicing. Keep Learning. That’s the lesson to take away from this.
